At Lorelei we use a selection of different hair types (softest first cut of the highest grade available), specifically chosen to achieve the best application for the job(s) that the brush is intended, for example, with some applications animal hair can be too soft and pliable or synthetic may not pick up enough product or be easy to clean off wet products.
Natural hair is important for eye shading brushes as the hair follicles hold onto the powder and pigment which helps with placing product, achieving an even coverage and with blending. Some hair is more fine and can be formed into tiny precise shapes (Kolinsky Sable) and others are best for blending or buffing eyeshadow and can help bring luster to the skin (High-grade Goat hair)

Synthetic brushes in the Lorelei range are chosen for big face brushes as so they do not pick up too much product so you have more control on the application as it will be sheer and can be built up, and you do not waste product by it being trapped in the hair follicles (e.g. foundation, powder and blusher) making it easy to sweep clean them on a towel in-between weekly washes. Also with other smaller brushes that require using 'wet' products like liquids, creams or gels (e.g. concealer, cream shadow, eyeliner, Brow, lip) as synthetic is easy to clean and these brushes need cleaning after every use as a dirty brush will not perform properly.
